About Us!
CMHL seeks to improve the health literacy of the surrounding community through interactive presentations on important health related topics like diabetes and vaccinations. We currently present about once a week at the Saturday soup kitchen held at St. Matthew's United Methodist and on different days of the week at 3 YWCA locations (Cogswell Hall, Independence Place, and Norma Herr). In order to prepare for these presentations, we we prepare a simple, ~15 minute oral presentation with handouts to follow along with for the presentation, and in the end, we circulate to check in with individuals and small groups who may have questions. In addition to the presentations, we also collaborate with the Student Run Health Clinic to offer monthly blood pressure screenings at St. Matthew's. We also work with Rainbow Connects as part of a long-term volunteer opportunity to help patients access the resources that they need.
