Frequently Asked Questions
Who are you?
What kind of work do you exhibit?
Do these works have to be medically related?
Are there any requirements for submission?
Can I publish anonymously?
Great! So how do I submit?
- We're an entirely student-run arts and humanities publication dedicated to showcasing the talents of our medical community. Our inaugural issue was published in Spring 2016 as a magazine, with content contributed by medical students and faculty members in the Case Western medical network.
What kind of work do you exhibit?
- Creative work of pretty much any kind! We'll take any poetry, prose, letters, photography, paintings, DIY crafts projects, even recipes that serve as a creative outlet. As we expand, we hope to showcase digital content as well - this means musical compositions, videos, and the like will happily be accepted as well.
Do these works have to be medically related?
- Although we have roots in science and medicine, The Blot serves as a forum for talents outside of the hospital or lab environment. While some people do choose medically-related themes for their work, this is NOT a requirement to submit.
Are there any requirements for submission?
- We accept submissions from students and affiliated faculty of the CWRU School of Medicine. Submissions should be original and not have been previously published elsewhere (this includes print and digital versions). Photography or photos of artwork must be at least 300dpi resolution for publication.
Can I publish anonymously?
- Absolutely. We know how hard it is keeping a legion of fans from blowing up the internet every time you publish.
Great! So how do I submit?
- Send an email to [email protected] with an attachment or cloud drive link to your work with your name, title, title of your work, and we'll let you know once it's been received. The magazine is currently on track to be published once per year, but look out for more frequent posts online.
