First Generation Medical Students

If you’re the first in your family to attend college or medical school, resources and help can be difficult to find, or more difficult to ask for. The First Gen group is here to help support you and fill in some of those gaps. In addition to students who are currently or have already pioneered their way through, we also have many faculty members who are first gen that are eager to provide tips, strategies, and lend an ear. We are dedicated to developing ways to support first generation students in all forms to adjusting to new environments, lifestyles, and academic traditions. ​

First Gen Club Activities:

• Mentor squads! First year, second year, third year, and fourth year medical students are matched into a squad based on their interests.
• Q&A panels with upperclassman and newly matched residents
• Mentorship from first generation physicians
