Northeast Ohio Institute for Health PolicyThe Northeast Ohio Institute for Health Policy (NEOIHP) is the first organization of its kind to meld community engagement and education by providing medical students the opportunity to brainstorm ideas, research, write, publish, and engage the community with novel health policy recommendations. This is the first health policy thinktank to exist at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and one of the first student-run thinktanks in the country.
NEOIHP promotes scholarly engagement in the field of health policy by allowing students the opportunity to interact with health policy experts to write policy papers targeting issues of healthcare and public health in Northeast Ohio. There exists an urgent need to better educate medical students regarding the nuances of health policy. NEOIHP harnesses the energy of students passionate about improving the health of our community and teaches students how to research, write, and publish seminal policy papers for some of the most pressing issues afflicting Northeast Ohio. We will work with faculty members to isolate specific healthcare/public health issues in Northeast Ohio in need of policy recommendations and will write policy papers to address these topics. After doing so, we will partner with other organizations to disseminate the results of the policy papers in hopes of achieving greater change on the city/state level. |
