Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Interest Group
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatry, is a medical specialty that emphasizes the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of people disabled by disease, disorder or injury.
The PM&R Interest Group aims to offer students opportunities to learn more about the specialty and residency programs. We would also like to promote disability awareness and advocacy in our school and community through workshops and volunteer opportunities in adaptive sports. Some plans we have for the year (dependent on the COVID situation of course) • Panel with physiatrists and allied health professionals- What is PM&R and its subspecialties? • Opportunities to shadow physiatrists and allied-health (social work, music therapy etc.) • Volunteer opportunities such as adaptive skiing (+ workshops on how to ski, how to teach, how to do transfers etc.) • Working with other student groups to increase disability advocacy in our school Please fill out the form here to join our listserv!
