M1s, welcome to CaseMed! We hope this handbook has been helpful to you! If you have any suggestions on how to make this better, please let us know. As with most big accomplishments, this was not a solo endeavor, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of several very important people.
To our advisors and faculty support team- Dr. Karen Ashby, Dr. Ana Yepes-Rios, Mr. Joseph Williams, Dr. Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew and Dr. Robert Haynie- thank you. Your support has meant so much to us as an SNMA/LMSA chapter and as students at Case SOM. We hope that we’ve made you proud.
We would also like to give a special thanks to the outstanding group of students who birthed this idea and first made it a reality with the release of Edition I in 2019. The 2019-2020 SNMA/LMSA executive board, along with several members of the general body, can be found as contributors to several sections throughout this publication. They saw a gap, and collaborated to fill it with gems that continue to support us throughout our medical school journeys.
Additional thanks to Dr. Steven Ricanati and the entire Office of Student Affairs for supporting us in this endeavor. We are grateful for your efforts to make Case SOM a better place for all of its students and are looking forward to continuing to work towards this goal together.
Special thanks to Dr. Lina Mehta, Mr. Christian Essman, Mr. Tom McKenzie, and Ms. Renee Pickel of the Office of Admissions. Your enthusiasm for creating a more diverse SOM and field of medicine has not gone unnoticed by us. We are looking forward to continuing to work with you! P.S. Thanks for all the free dinners!
The biggest shout out goes to the entire Handbook Taskforce. Thank you all so much for your time, energy, and passion for creating this document. This literally could not have happened without you.
