AMSA Community Health Committee


The AMSA Community Health Committee seeks to serve the community in which we live. We are in direct communication with several organizations in the community to provide students with meaningful volunteer experiences. Through hands-on volunteer and outreach projects, our goal is to have Case medical students become familiar with and better able to serve our patient population.



Mission:
The AMSA Community Health Committee seeks to immerse medical students into the local community, encouraging them to serve others while also broadening their vision and helping them understand more about the local patient population.
Volunteer Programs:
  • Neighborhood Family Practice: assist with patient questionnaires and patient enrollment into MyChart

  • Seeds of Literacy: provide one-on-one tutoring as a part of the free adult literacy program
                o   For more information about Seeds of Literacy: visit their website 
  • AMSA APP Mentorship Program: provide one-on-one mentorship to Case undergraduate students in the process of applying to medical school

  • Urban Health Initiative: CWRU Initiative to reduce urban health disparities
  • The Weatherhead Institute for Family Medicine and Community Health: CWRU Institute to help improve the health of the community

    o   Cleveland Clinic Community Outreach
    o   University Hospitals Health and Wellness
    o   MetroHealth Classes and Events
